La Peineta is a traditional Spanish ornamental comb. La Peineta has been popular since the 19th century. Traditionally this comb was made of tortoise shell. Today most combs are made of plastic materials.

This comb is worn on woman's hair to hold the mantilla. Mantilla is a lace or silk scarf over the head and shoulders. Mantilla is worn on different religious festivals and during religious wedding ceremonies. White mantilla is worn by single women and the black one by those married ones.
