Battle of the Queens

Battle of the Queens (in French "Combat de Reines") is a name of the cow fighting tournaments held in the Alps. These tournaments are held in the Swiss canton of Valois, the Aosta Valley in Italy and in the Haute-Savoie region of France. The biggest cow fighting tournament is held every October in Martigny, Switzerland. Almost 50,000 people attend the spectacle.

Cows participating in the event are divided into 6 weight categories. Horns of the competitors are blunted. So, each cow just tries to push the other one away. Duels last up to 40 minutes. Sometimes one of two cows is not very interested in fighting and just walks away. Such cow is immediately eliminated.
