Mote con huesillos

Most Chileans fight the summer heat by drinking mote con huesillos. It is a non-alcoholic beverage. Mote con huesillos is traditionally sold by street vendors.

Here is little bit about the way it is prepared. First you have to cook dried peaches (in Spanish huesillos) in water, sugar and cinnamon. Some people choose to replace sugar with some honey. Then you add some previously cooked husked wheat (in Spanish mote). And the drink is ready. It is served chilled in a tall glass with a dessert spoon. This drink can be served without peaches. Then it is called “descarozados".
