La Peineta is a traditional Spanish ornamental comb. La Peineta has been popular since the 19th century. This comb was once made of tortoise shell. Today most combs are made of plastic materials.

La Peineta is worn on woman's hair to hold the mantilla. Mantilla is a lace or silk scarf over the head and shoulders. It is worn at different religious festivals and during religious wedding ceremonies. White mantilla is worn by single women and the black one by those married ones.
