Djellaba (djellabah, galabiya, jellab(a)) or darija is a traditonal northafrican long outer robe. It usually reaches ground, but there are shorter ones too. It is made of wool or some lighter material like cotton.
The colour of djellaba shows whether a person wearing it is married or not. Single people wear a dark brown djellaba. Djellabas of lighter colours are worn by married people. Djellaba for women is called “abaya cloak.” Both male and female djellabas include a hood called a “cob”.
