Dirndl is a traditional dress of southern Germany, Austria, Liechenstein and the Italian region of South Tirol. Dirndl includes a bodice, blouse, full skirt and apron. Dirndl blouse has puffed or narrow sleeves, long or short sleeves. Under the apron there is a pocket.
Dirndl is made of cotton, linen or silk fabric. There are dirndls made for winter and summer. As sort of accessory to dirndl women often wear a pendant called “kropfband” or “würgerband.” Word dirndl can also be referred to the girl who wears the dirndl.
