Deel

Deel is a traditional garment worn by the Mongols and some tribes in Central Asia. It is very common in the Mongolian countryside. Deel is worn with a large silk belt. Some objects like eating set (knife and two chopsticks), tinder pouch or snuff bottle are attached to the belt. Deel has no pockets.

In cities usually only elder people wear deel. Deel can be made of cotton, silk, brocade and some other materials. In summer people wear lighter version of Deel called “Terleg.” In spring, autumn and winter people wear the "Khovontei Deel" (made of wadded cotton) or the "Khurgan Dotortoi Deel" (made of lambskin). The "Tsagaan Nekhii Deel" is made of sheepskin or fur.
