Well dressing is an ancient tradition of decorating or "dressing" of wells and other water resources in Derbyshire, England. This tradition exists in the area since the time of Celts. Well dressing is performed from May until late September.
All sorts of materials are used in well dressing - flower petals, leaves, tree bark, moss etc. Mosaic-like pictures that are being created include different motifs like personalities from English history, local architecture, nature and religious scenes. After being finished each well dressing picture is blessed in a short ritual.
