Kalbelia is a traditional dance and the nomadic tribe of same name in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Kalbelia is danced by female dancers. They wear traditional black dresses embroidered with silver ribbons. They spin in circle. Their moves resemble those of a snake.
The music for this dance is performed by men. They use the following instruments – pungi (been), morchang (wrought-iron instrument similar to Jew's harp), khanjari (tambourine), dufli, dholak (drum) and khuralio. Pungi is a wind instrument made of deer thorn. It is traditionally used by snake charmers.
