Battle of the Flowers

Battle of the Flowers (in Catalan Batalla de Flors, in Spanish Batalla de Flores) is the final event of the famous July Fair held in Valencia, Spain. The event starts with the parade of floats beautifully decorated with flowers. Floats pass along the track couple of times before the commission decides which one is the most beautiful.

What follows is a real battle. Each float and the audience get lot of flower heads. They throw them against each other. The battle lasts for about 20 minutes. It ends with the “mascieta” (fireworks).
